🐾 Meet Leroy 🐾
Leroy is a 2 year old Labrador Retriever x Huntaway who recently joined us at Dogwatch.
This big handsome lad weighs in at over 30kg and is full of personality, enthusiasm, and affection. Leroy is a very people focused boy who absolutely loves being near his humans and soaking up attention. He has a soft, affectionate nature and is quickly becoming a favourite with the team.
Leroy is still settling into shelter life and we are continuing to learn more about him each day, but it is clear he has likely not had the best start in life. As a young boy, he is still lacking some general inside manners and life skills that will need a bit of sharpening up in a home environment. Leroy can also be unsure of new environments, and needs some encouragement to feel confident!
He has been known to do a bit of chomping on things and enjoys some digging too, but honestly, we think with the right home, routine, enrichment, and guidance these behaviours will settle nicely over time. He is still young, eager to engage, and the Dogwatch team will be here to support his adopters along the way.
So far Leroy has mixed well with female dogs and has shown friendly social skills. He has also been a very good boy during his vet visits, handling procedures and attention calmly.
Leroy is an active young dog who will thrive in a home able to provide him with ongoing training, structure, exercise, and plenty of mental enrichment. He is a strong boy due to his size and excitement levels, so he will need an owner confident in continuing his lead manners and helping him channel his energy appropriately.
As Leroy is still new to us, further assessments around other animals and home suitability are ongoing.
