More about Happy
Meet Happy
Happy is a gorgeous Collie cross puppy who has already grown into a confident, intelligent, and affectionate young boy. Since coming into foster care, he has nearly doubled in size and continues to impress everyone he meets with his eagerness to learn and his delightful nature.
Happy is a busy, active pup who thrives when he has both mental and physical stimulation. He would be best suited to a rural or lifestyle block setting where he has room to explore, learn, and be involved in daily activities. While he could adapt to suburban life, he would need an experienced owner committed to providing plenty of exercise, training, and enrichment, ideally through working dog activities or an active outdoor lifestyle.
True to his Collie heritage, Happy is already showing natural herding instincts and happily rounds up the chickens. He has also met goats and sheep and takes these new experiences in stride. He enjoys spending time with other dogs and has socialised well with family members’ dogs. Even better, Happy is cat-friendly.
When he’s not busy exploring the world, Happy enjoys the softer side of life. He loves cuddles, brushing sessions, and relaxing on the sofa with his people.
Training and Progress
Happy is a clever boy who is picking up new skills quickly. He has already mastered:
- Sit
- Reliable recall
- Waiting politely for food
- Toileting on command
- Crate sleeping overnight
- Using puppy pads when needed
He has never toileted in his crate and views it as a safe, comfortable space. Like many puppies, he’s eager to start the day and will happily let you know when it’s time to get up in the morning!
Happy is currently working on:
- Shake/Paw
- Lie Down
- Keeping all four paws on the floor (no jumping up)
- Heel walking
He naturally stays close to his handler and shows great potential for further training.
Health and Socialisation
Happy is up to date with his puppy care and is booked for his second vaccination on 17 June. He has been regularly wormed and has experienced a wide variety of positive socialisation opportunities, helping him grow into a confident and adaptable young dog. He has even enjoyed a trip to Bunnings, travelling in the trolley and charming everyone he met along the way.
Happy is now looking for an active, loving home that can continue nurturing his intelligence, enthusiasm, and affectionate nature. In return, he promises plenty of loyalty, companionship, and smiles every day.
