Meet Pango
Pango is a 14 month old Staffy cross with a gentle nature, a love of company and a favourite pastime of stretching out in the sunshine.
He came to Dogwatch from Christchurch City Council’s pound after being hit by a car and went straight into foster care with a wonderful family. Since then, he has had a femoral head ostectomy, an operation to remove the damaged ball of his hip joint, and has been enjoying plenty of love while he recovers.
Pango loves people and dogs in equal measure and would suit a home with another friendly, well matched dog. He may also be able to live with a confident, dog savvy cat, with careful introductions and ongoing guidance. Older, dog savvy children could be a good match too.
For a young dog, Pango is surprisingly calm and enjoys lounging around with his foster family. He has been through a lot and will need time, patience and a settled home to help him build confidence and let his personality blossom fully.
Pango can initially find it difficult to settle when left alone, although he has shown he can cope once settled. His new family will need to help him gradually adjust to time on his own.
He can be strong on the lead, and his movement is still a little uncoordinated while he recovers. He is currently having physiotherapy, which is expected to continue for another month. He may benefit from further physiotherapy in the future and may have a greater likelihood of developing arthritis as he gets older. Our team can talk you through his recovery and ongoing needs.
Pango has so much love and life to share. He is looking for a family who will give him the time and care he needs, a canine friend to enjoy life with, and a sunny spot to call his own.
