More about Bear

** Update: 14/1 Bears applications have now closed as he has been adopted and is on his settling and support period**

Bear has only recently come into our care, while we are still getting to know him and complete our assessments, here is what we have gathered so far!

Bear is a stunning 1-year-old Vizsla X (Something large!)—a gentle, affectionate giant with a heart as big as his paws. Bear came into our care through a private surrender due to changes in his home environment. Through no fault of his own, it became clear that he would thrive best in a new, more suitable home. He is currently in foster care while we help him find the perfect forever family.

This adolescent boy is full of potential and will need an owner committed to ongoing training and exercise. He’s smart, eager to please, and highly food- and toy-motivated, making him a fun and rewarding dog to work with. Bear already has great basic manners, knowing sit, down, wait for his food and has good house boundaries.

Bear currently lives with two young children in his foster home and previously lived with a small-breed dog. He gets along very well with them, though due to his size and enthusiasm, dog-savvy kids are recommended. As a large-breed dog, he also needs a physically capable owner confident in handling a big, bouncy youngster.

He lives on a property with two cats and, while he will chase if given the chance, he could live with a confident cat in a home with careful management and ongoing supervision.

True to his Vizsla heritage, Bear is incredibly people-oriented. He loves company and makes a fantastic off-leash running buddy. He’s used to being off leash, but he will need further support with on-lead walking and polite dog greetings—something his new family should be willing to continue training. He does meet dogs well when off leash as this is what he is sued too.

Because he struggles with long days alone, Bear will do best in a home where some form of day time company if offered or where he can live with another friendly dog to keep him company.

If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, affectionate companion who’s ready to join you on all of life’s adventures, Bear might just be your perfect match. This sweet boy is ready to find his forever family—could it be you?
