Meet Thelma

Thelma is a 11 month old Ridgeback x Mastiff who has come into our care alongside her sister Louise from the Waimakariri District. Both girls arrived feeling scared, shut down, and unsure of the world around them, but with time, care, and patience, Thelma has begun to quietly blossom into a truly sweet soul.

Thelma has a gentle, sensitive nature and, of the two sisters, is the more reserved and slower to build trust. She is still getting to know the world and can find new environments a bit overwhelming at times, so she is looking for a calm, patient home that will allow her to move at her own pace.

She is new to us, and we are still learning more about her, but she has previously lived with other dogs, including her sister. With the right match, she may benefit from a calm, respectful canine companion to help her settle and build confidence.

Thelma will thrive in a quiet, understanding home with people who are willing to give her time, consistency, and gentle guidance. In return, she offers a soft, kind presence and the reward of watching a shy dog grow in confidence. Would suit a home with older dog savvy kids who can help teach her good manners!
