🐾 Meet Hatchi! 🐾

Hatchi is a total ball of fluff and fun, recently welcomed into our care from the Christchurch City Council Shelter. This lovely Huntaway mix boy is estimated to be around 4–5 years old, and he brings plenty of personality with him.

Hatchi is a playful, affectionate dog who absolutely lives for his ball. He’ll happily spend his time chasing, carrying, and showing it off, often accompanied by his classic  “grumble” during play, which is all part of his charm.

Hatchi has some vision issues with his eyes:
Primary Diagnosis
Bilateral cataracts (cataracts affecting both eyes)
Secondary Diagnosis
Lens-induced uveitis (inflammation of the iris/inside of the eye caused by the cataracts)
Initial Differential Diagnosis (later ruled out as less likely)

Because of this, he can be a little more sensitive in how he interacts with the world, and will need people who understand how to give him space and build his confidence gently.

He is dog social, though due to his vision he would be best suited to a calm, respectful dog companion who will allow him space and interact appropriately.

• A calm, understanding home willing to support his vision needs
• Dog savvy adopters who can read his cues and advocate for him
• Older, dog savvy children who can give him space when needed
• A calm, respectful dog companion could suit – ideally female 
• Someone who enjoys play, especially a good game of ball

Hatchi is a special boy who will thrive in a home that understands him and gives him the time and support he needs.
