More about Goose
Goose, our 18 month Staffy cross, came to us in late December 2021 from the Christchurch City Council Shelter and is patiently waiting for his forever home.
Goose is a friendly boy who enjoys human company. On arrival at the shelter, he had no basic cues, and did not even know a “sit”. He has since learnt a number of basic cues and new games. With consistency and training we believe he can continue to learn and grow his skillset. He absolutely loves going for walks in our paddock and his favourite games are playing tug and fetching his ball.
However, Goose can quickly become over-excited and frustrated at times, which can lead to elevated behaviour, including jumping up and nipping. In these situations, Goose struggles to regulate himself and this became an issue of concern on his previous trial adoption. Hence, we have put a safety-management and training plan in place at the shelter, which will transfer over into his new home.
Goose would be best suited to an adult only home with owners that are patient and calm and prepared to put time into his training and socialization. He also requires a dog and cat free environment. His adopter will need to be committed to working with our team and following his training and behaviour modification plan.
