More about Goose
Officially adopted!
Introducing Goose, our charming 2-year-and-9-month-old Staffy cross, who arrived at our shelter from the Christchurch City Council Shelter in late December 2021 and is eagerly awaiting his forever home.
Goose is a friendly, quirky, and sweet boy who thrives in human company. When he first arrived at the shelter, he lacked basic cues and didn’t even know how to sit. However, through dedicated training and engagement, he has made significant progress, learning various basic cues and new games. With continued consistency and training, we’re confident he can further develop and expand his already impressive skill set. He adores going for walks in our paddock and exploring the community, with his favourite activities including playing tug, fetching his ball, and enjoying a paddle or swim. Additionally, Goose travels well in the car, making him an excellent adventure companion.
Despite his lovable nature, Goose can sometimes become overexcited and frustrated, leading to elevated behaviour such as jumping up and nipping. To address this concern, we have implemented a safety-management and training plan at the shelter, which will help him transition into his new home.
Goose would thrive in an adult-only environment with patient and calm owners who are willing to invest time and effort into his training and socialization. While he is not reactive to dogs in the community and is generally fine if they approach him, he must be placed in a dog-free home. However, Goose could potentially coexist with a cat, provided it is well managed. His adopter must be committed to collaborating with our team and adhering to his training and behavior modification plan.
