🐾 Meet Jazz 🐾
Jazz is a stunning 4-year 5-month-old Staffy cross rescued from Christchurch City Council Shelter.
A few things to know about me:
Personality:
Jazz has wowed our team (and her foster dad!) with her charisma, charm, and quirky, funny personality. She’s beautifully natured, eager to please, and an absolute delight to have around. Jazz loves human company and has a super soft, loving side – she’ll happily come for cuddles, then toddle off for a snooze before coming back for a “top-up” cuddle later. She’ll keep you laughing with her antics and big, goofy heart!
In the home:
Jazz thrives in a home environment and spends most of her day snoozing on the couch or sunbathing. She’s super relaxed around the house and listens well – she’ll happily stay on her blanket if asked while you have dinner. Jazz is used to being left alone during the day and is content provided she has a comfy spot to nap on. Secure containment is a must as Jazz can jump a 6ft fence and has a talent for opening the occasional window (she’s smart, what can we say!). She’s happiest being mostly an inside dog, which makes managing her easy.
Exercise needs:
Jazz thrives with two short walks a day (15–20 minutes each) through quieter areas like the red zone. She lives nearby to a busy park, and enjoys walks around here too.
Training:
Jazz has come a long way with her leash manners and dog reactivity training. She’s now a pleasure to walk provided dogs are kept more than 20 metres away, and she’s learning to disengage beautifully. She wears a muzzle in public for safety, especially in case of unexpected off-lead dogs, and her new family will be supported with a homing plan and guidance from our experienced team and behaviour team.
Social skills:
Jazz would do best as the only dog in the home. She has worked hard on her dog reactivity but still prefers her own space when it comes to other canines.
Children:
Jazz is fantastic with children but can sometimes forget her size, so dog-savvy kids are recommended.
Cats:
Jazz is not suited to a home with cats or other small animals.
Ideal home:
Jazz would thrive in a home with at least a couple of adults, ideally with someone around most of the time to enjoy her company. She’s a gorgeous, big softie who just wants to be loved and to make you laugh.
We’d love to see this special girl find her forever home. If you think you can offer Jazz the loving, fun home she deserves, please complete an adoption application here
