Meet Leia!
Leia is an 18-month-old mix breed rescued from the Ashburton city council shelter November 2024
A few things to know about Leia:
Leia is a favorite amongst staff and volunteers, she has playful and sweet nature, Leia is toy and treat motivated making her easy to train.
Personality: Sweet, affectionate, and people-friendly.
Children: Suited for a home with dog savvy children.
Cats: Potentially cat-friendly with proper introductions and management.
Other Dogs: Social but prefers slow introductions to build trust, has a rough and tumble play style so will need to fine tune her doggy manners as not all dogs appreciate her exuberance.
Not suited for: Leia cannot live in a home with birds/chickens.
In the home: Leia needs secure 6ft fencing as she can jump fences and would need to be supervised outside and left inside when unattended initially.
Training: Leia walks nicely on the lead and has some great basic training
