Macy has recently undergone her hind leg amputation surgery, and we are so proud of how well this brave little girl is recovering 💛
After coming into Dogwatch care with a previous injury that was causing significant chronic pain, Macy underwent specialist assessment and surgery with the support of the wonderful team at Rangiora Vet Centre. She is now recovering beautifully in foster care and beginning the next stage of her journey as a tripod dog.
Macy is currently attending physio and rehabilitation sessions and is expected to go on to live a full, active, and happy life.
She is a clever and affectionate 1-year-old Collie mix on the smaller side, with a lovely nature and plenty of personality. Macy has spent time living in a home environment with a child and adjusted beautifully to family life.
She is social with both male and female dogs and could happily live with a well matched canine companion, though this is not essential. She travels well in the car and is lovely to walk on lead.
Macy can initially be unsure around new people, particularly men, but with space, patience, and positive introductions, she quickly builds trust and forms strong bonds with her people.
Because Macy is still recovering and undergoing rehabilitation, we are looking for adopters who understand that her transition into a forever home may take a little more time and support than a standard adoption. We are committed to helping both Macy and her future family through this process to give her the very best chance at success.
We are also open to a foster to adopt pathway for the right home.
