More about Suki

Update 13/11: Applications for Suki have closed as she is now on a settling & support period with her new family.

Suki is a beautiful 1 year old Heading dog cross who came to Dogwatch from the Christchurch City Council Shelter in July.

Suki is an intelligent, sweet girl who loves to dig, play, and has heaps of energy to burn. She is currently in foster care with one of our staff members who has an older female dog and a cat. They have done a great job teaching Suki important life and socialisation skills as she came into our care lacking basic training and boundaries.

It is important to know that Suki is DEAF and therefore needs an owner who is committed to her on-going training and working through any additional challenges this may bring. Suki is best suited to an active home who can provide her with plenty of mental stimulation and exercise as she has shown to have a strong herding instinct.

Suki would do okay in a home with older dog-savvy children who are confident in managing her energetic mouthy/nippy behaviour.  She would do well in a home with an older dog that will aid in teaching her good dog social manners and that she can build a bond with as this will also assist in her confidence and recall out in the community.

We are looking for committed, loving and patience owners who will give the time, training, and socialization that Suki needs. Suki needs a home where she will have daytime company and be provided with opportunities of sensible exposure to all the wonders of the outside world.

If you think you can provide Suki with a loving and forever home, please fill in our online application form
